Middle Island Recreational Cabin is perfect for families that want to explore the "wilds" of Alaska within the close-by safety of Sitka. It's also great for kayakers, wanting a place to stop over for a day of rest, or a week of relaxation. Fishermen wanting to be "close to the action" can also use it as a drop-off and pick-up site.

Whatever your reason for wanting to get away from the crowds, Middle Island Recreational Cabin, Sitka, Alaska is perfect for it.

Well supplied with all the basics, it's only 15 minutes by boat from downtown Sitka, and has a great beach area for kayaks, small boats and drop-bow boats. Middle Island Cabin is perfect for the get-a-way, with just enough luxury; a warm fire, a good cook stove, and a great table for sitting around, having a drink and sharing fish-tails.

With prior notice, drop-off can be provided for a fee, or you can take your own boat or kayak there. There is not a dock, but the beach access is good for kayaks or small skiffs. A small skiff with oars is provided for your use and is good for exploring close-by.

Lawrence May 2007 Family Trip: My family and really I enjoyed the cabin at Middle Island. It was a very quite, rustic experience. We really enjoyed exploring around the island and walking on the beaches. We are quite experienced with wilderness adventure so we didn't mind the isolation of this area. It wouldn't be for someone who needed a few more luxuries or services.
